PhD

Sabi ng judge, empleyado ako

Dear Grasp member,

Through this e-mail we would like to inform you about the outcome of
the lawsuit concerning the bursary system.

As you probably know there are currently broadly two flavors of PhD
positions: AiO and bursary. While AiO are regular employees, and
regarded as such by the university and the taxation office, bursaries
are regarded as students by the university. Since bursaries get a
grant rather than a wage, the university does not have to pay certain
employer expenses, making bursary positions much cheaper than AiO

Meeting chronobiologists across the Netherlands

I attended the whole day Center for Timing Research (CTR) meeting. My impression (perhaps because I lack proper orientation) is that CTR is the Dutch national chronobiology society. It is a small society of chronobiologists mostly coming from four major centers: Amsterdam, Leiden, Rotterdam, and, of course, Groningen.

I have many things in my mind that I want to write about that event, but, as usual, I am too lazy to extract them into written words. I am mostly a talk person, not a write person. Nonetheless, I can mention some funny or interesting statements I've heard during the meeting:

Reading goals
